Astronomy Magazines website has made my night (well not really but whatever.)
Under Astronomy for Kids there is a series of helpful tips for observing. Here are a few of my favorites:
1. Don't get hammered. If you get liquored up you won't be able to see things as good. Leave the Jell-o shots for the rainy nights.
2. Wear an eye patch. Sure. Why not? You're already a major nerd for using a telescope in the first place so no one will be weirded out by seeing you walk around with an eye patch on. Get one with a scary glo-in-the-dark skull.
3. In case the eye patch didn't work or people just think you have something wrong with your eye, pack a
space blanket. A nice big Star Trek emblem on it will make you the most uberest geek, times infinity.
Finally, a few of my favorite section titles and quotes:
Going Deep, Know Your Equipment and "Take all the batteries you know you'll need"
